These things are non-negotiable for the membership of the Valparaiso Church of Christ:

Bible:

We believe the Bible is the complete written word of God and is without error. The Holy Scriptures reveal God’s nature and purpose and it has the power to lead us to an eternal relationship with our Creator.

God:

We believe in One God – co-equal, eternal, and creator of all.

An unchanging Father who passionately desires a relationship with all people,
Jesus, the Son, who became God in the flesh, the only one chosen to save us, and
The Holy Spirit, who is living and active in the lives of believers.

Salvation:

We believe God calls all people to enter into a relationship with Him through a life changing belief in the risen Savior and acceptance of His gift through baptism.

Church:

We believe the church is made up of forgiven people that are adopted by God and under the Kingship of Jesus Christ, who joins us spiritually with all believers. We are called to be reckless in our love and extreme in our grace toward one another as we grow in the image of our King.

Worship:

We believe that we were created for an intimate relationship with God to worship Him with our whole being. He hungers for our praise, adoration, and our passionate expressions of love as a church family and in our individual lives. During our worship times, the Lord’s sacrifice of His body and blood is remembered and honored weekly through our communion together.

(While we continue to have a deep appreciation for our a cappella heritage, it is not considered a core value; consequently, we embrace the freedom to worship God with other forms of musical expression.)

Discipleship:

We believe in the power of God to transform broken lives into the image of Jesus, through ongoing spiritual encounters with God and each other that change our hearts and minds forever.

Outreach:

We believe we have been called to share the hope that is within us. We affirm that it is the personal responsibility of every child of God to be a carrier of the message of Christ to those who have yet to believe.
